WHO & Global Health Policies – May 2025 Highlights

1. Boosting Health Financing for All
The assembly passed a resolution to strengthen global health financing, aiming to ensure universal health coverage (UHC) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This initiative supports health equity and resilience, especially post-pandemic.

2. Traditional and Complementary Medicine Strategy (2025–2034)
WHO approved a 10-year strategic plan to promote the safe, evidence-based use of traditional and complementary medicine. This move acknowledges growing global reliance on such treatments alongside modern medical care.

3. Tackling Air Pollution
Delegates endorsed a global action plan to combat air pollution and its health impacts, recognizing it as a leading environmental health threat. This includes cross-sector partnerships and stricter emission targets.

4. World Prematurity Day Recognized
The Assembly officially adopted World Prematurity Day as a global health campaign to raise awareness of preterm birth, which remains a major cause of infant mortality.

5. Pandemic Preparedness Treaty Progress
Significant discussions advanced the draft WHO Pandemic Agreement, designed to improve equity, transparency, and rapid response during global health emergencies shaped by COVID-19 lessons.
