Telangana Government Hikes Stipend for Medical Students

In a major relief and motivation for students pursuing medical education, the Revanth Reddy-led Telangana Government has announced a 15% increase in the stipend for UG and PG medical students across the state. This decision was formalized through a Government Order (GO) issued by the Medical and Health Department.

Who Will Benefit?

The increased stipend will benefit the following categories of medical trainees:

House Surgeons (MBBS interns)

Postgraduate (PG) Degree Students (MD/MS)

Postgraduate Diploma Students

Super-specialty Medical Trainees

Dental Trainees including those pursuing Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS)

Senior Residents

This hike is aimed at encouraging students who are undergoing rigorous medical training and internships across various government medical institutions in Telangana.

Effective From January 1, 2025

According to the GO, the enhanced stipends will be applicable with effect from January 1, 2025. All eligible students currently in training or beginning their programs from that date will receive the revised stipend amounts.

This move by the Revanth Sarkar reflects the government’s commitment to improving the conditions of medical trainees and strengthening the public healthcare system by supporting future healthcare professionals.
