NEW ANNUAL HIGHWAY TOLL PASS ANNOUNCED
The Indian government has announced the launch of a new Annual Highway Toll Pass scheme aimed at easing travel for private vehicle owners. Starting from August 15, this pass will be integrated with the existing FASTag system and will offer significant savings and convenience. For an annual fee of ₹3,000, users will be entitled to 200 toll-free crossings on National Highways managed by the NHAI (National Highways Authority of India). This initiative is designed to encourage digital toll payments and streamline highway travel across the country.
The move is expected to benefit regular commuters and long-distance travelers, reducing the hassle of frequent recharges and unexpected toll deductions. By offering a prepaid, subscription-like model, the government aims to improve road usage efficiency and reduce congestion at toll plazas. Officials believe the scheme will not only provide cost effective travel for users but also boost FASTag adoption and bring more transparency to toll collections on national highways.
