Massive Blaze Erupts at Paper Plates Factory in Balanagar Industrial Area

In a dramatic incident on Thursday morning, a massive fire broke out in a paper plates manufacturing company located in the Balanagar Industrial Area, specifically within the Duro Dine Industry premises in Jinkalawada under the Sanatnagar police station limits. The fire, which is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit, quickly engulfed large sections of the factory due to the highly flammable nature of the raw materials present.

Eyewitnesses reported thick black smoke billowing from the site, visible from several kilometers away. Panic gripped nearby industrial units and residents as the flames intensified, prompting a swift response from emergency services. Workers and staff in adjacent buildings were quickly evacuated as a precautionary measure, and traffic in the surrounding areas was temporarily diverted to facilitate the movement of fire engines and rescue teams.

Emergency response teams, including fire personnel, GHMC disaster management staff, and hydra operators, launched a coordinated effort to douse the flames. As many as eight fire engines were deployed to the spot, and firefighters struggled for hours to bring the fire under control. Water cannons and foam sprays were used extensively to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to neighboring facilities.

While there have been no immediate reports of casualties, authorities are yet to confirm the safety of all employees who were on duty at the time of the fire. Officials on the ground have indicated that an investigation will be launched to determine the exact cause and to assess whether fire safety protocols were in place and followed within the premises.

The factory reportedly stored a large quantity of paper rolls, chemicals, and packaging materials  all of which served as fuel to the fast-spreading flames. Officials stated that the delay in detecting the fire may have allowed it to reach deeper sections of the facility before firefighting operations began. This has significantly hampered efforts to completely extinguish the blaze.

As operations continue, police and fire officials have cordoned off the area, urging onlookers to stay clear of the site for their own safety. The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety standards in Hyderabad’s industrial zones, with many calling for stricter enforcement of safety audits and timely electrical inspections to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
