MAJOR ACCIDENT AT GRANITE QUARRY 6 PEOPLES DIED

A serious industrial accident occurred on Sunday in Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district, leaving at least six workers injured. The incident took place at the Satyakrishna Granite Quarry located near Ballikurava, a region known for its mining and granite excavation operations. According to early reports, the accident happened when large boulders suddenly fell at the site while several workers were engaged in quarrying activities.
Details of the Incident

The accident occurred in the morning hours when routine granite mining was underway. Around 26 workers were reportedly on duty at the quarry site when the rockfall took place. Eyewitnesses stated that the sound of cracking rocks was followed by a loud crash as massive boulders came tumbling down from the upper section of the quarry.

Panic ensued as workers attempted to run to safety. Unfortunately, six of them were caught under the falling debris and suffered serious injuries. Fellow workers immediately raised an alarm and contacted local authorities for help.
Rescue and Emergency Response

Upon receiving information about the incident, local police rushed to the quarry and began rescue operations. Emergency response teams were also deployed to assist in clearing the debris and providing medical attention to the injured workers. Rescue operations were challenging due to the weight and size of the fallen rocks and the uneven terrain of the quarry site.

The injured workers were quickly moved to nearby hospitals for treatment. Some of them are reported to be in critical condition and are receiving intensive medical care. Police officials confirmed that no fatalities had been reported so far, but the situation remains under close observation.
Investigation Underway

Police officials and local authorities have started an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary suspicions point towards the possibility of loose rock formations or inadequate safety precautions at the quarry. Officials from the mining and geology department have also visited the site to assess the conditions and ensure compliance with safety norms.

One of the senior police officers at the scene stated, “We are looking into whether proper safety measures were followed. It is too early to say what caused the rockfall, but negligence cannot be ruled out. We will take appropriate action based on the investigation report.”
Worker Safety Concerns

This incident has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of workers employed in high-risk sectors like mining and quarrying. Workers and their families have demanded that stricter safety standards be enforced and that proper training and protective equipment be provided to those working in hazardous environments.

Trade unions and labor rights organizations have also voiced concerns about the working conditions in many quarries across Andhra Pradesh. They are calling for regular inspections and stricter penalties for quarry owners who fail to implement safety measures.
Government Response

The Andhra Pradesh state government has taken note of the incident. District officials have been directed to monitor the situation closely and provide all necessary medical and financial support to the injured workers. An official statement from the local administration said, “We are ensuring the best treatment for the injured and will not hesitate to take legal action if any violations are found.”
