“Indiramma Returns: 20 Lakh Homes and Land Justice for 8.6 Lakh Citizens”

In a significant boost to the state’s welfare and land reform agenda, Telangana Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has announced the launch of a massive housing initiative aimed at constructing 20 lakh Indiramma houses over the next three and a half years. This initiative, which reintroduces the once-successful Indiramma housing scheme, is seen as a strong commitment by the government to provide secure and affordable housing to the poor and homeless. The project is expected to directly benefit lakhs of economically disadvantaged families, with a focus on transparency, timely completion, and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries are not left out due to bureaucratic delays. The revival of this scheme signals the government’s focus on inclusive development and rural upliftment, especially in regions where housing infrastructure remains underdeveloped.

Simultaneously, the minister also set an ambitious deadline of August 15 to resolve 8.6 lakh land ownership and title claims under the Bhu Bharati land digitalization and verification program. This marks a bold step in addressing long-pending land disputes, ensuring land rights for farmers, tribal communities, and marginalized groups. By integrating land records digitally and settling claims through a streamlined process, the government hopes to reduce litigation, empower rightful landholders, and facilitate easy access to agricultural credit and subsidies. This dual push one for housing and the other for land rights is expected to bring about transformative socio-economic change, especially in rural Telangana, making housing and land ownership more inclusive, transparent, and legally secure.
