Himachal Pradesh Devastated by Heavy Rains and Flash Floods

Himachal Pradesh is facing a severe crisis due to relentless heavy rains and sudden flash floods, resulting in widespread destruction. Torrential downpours have triggered devastating landslides and rising water levels in several rivers and streams. The state’s hilly terrain has further complicated the situation, making many areas inaccessible and rescue operations extremely challenging.

So far, at least 10 people have lost their lives, and 34 others remain missing in various incidents caused by the extreme weather. Mandi district has emerged as one of the worst-hit regions, witnessing massive landslides and waterlogging. Homes, roads, and essential infrastructure have been damaged or washed away, leaving several communities isolated.

The state government, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), is conducting round-the-clock rescue and relief operations. In the last 32 hours alone, approximately 332 people have been evacuated and relocated to safer areas. Temporary shelters, food supplies, and medical assistance are being arranged for the affected population.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid travel to vulnerable areas, and follow official advisories. With weather forecasts predicting continued rain, the state remains on high alert. Emergency helplines have been activated, and teams are monitoring river levels and landslide-prone zones to prevent further loss of life and property.
