CM PLACES ADMINISTRATION ON HIGH ALERT

In a decisive move to safeguard public safety, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has issued urgent instructions placing the entire state administration on high alert. The directive, which came after an emergency review meeting at the Secretariat, calls for 24×7 readiness across all departments, the immediate cancellation of sanctioned leaves for government officials, and an intensified coordination mechanism to ensure swift response to any crisis situation.

The order stems from growing concerns over unpredictable weather conditions, potential flooding in low-lying areas, and other seasonal emergencies that have historically disrupted normal life during this period. Officials have been asked to treat this directive not as a routine precaution but as a “mission mode” operation aimed at minimizing loss of life and property.

Full Cancellation of Leaves for Officials

One of the key points in the CM’s directive is the blanket cancellation of all leaves, regardless of department or designation. Senior IAS and IPS officers, district collectors, revenue divisional officers, police superintendents, and even ground-level staff such as municipal workers and revenue inspectors are now expected to remain at their respective stations until further notice. This, the CM emphasized, will ensure that manpower shortages do not hamper relief operations in case of sudden emergencies.

“This is not the time for complacency. Every official is a first responder in their own jurisdiction. We cannot afford delays in decision-making or action,” Revanth Reddy is reported to have said.

Coordination Hubs and War Rooms

To streamline disaster preparedness, the CM has instructed the setting up of coordination hubs or “war rooms” at the state, district, and mandal levels. These hubs will function as communication nerve centers, linking field reports with the Chief Minister’s Office in real time. Each hub will have representatives from key departments including Disaster Management, Revenue, Police, Health, Municipal Administration, and Rural Development.

Live dashboards are being integrated to track rainfall data, water levels in reservoirs, traffic movement, and emergency calls. The CM stressed that the flow of information must be uninterrupted and verified, to avoid confusion or panic.
Disaster Preparedness Measures

The government is taking a multipronged approach:

Flood Control   Irrigation officials are conducting hourly inspections of major dams and reservoirs, ensuring gates are in working condition and flood release protocols are ready.

Urban Drainage Management   GHMC and municipal bodies have been instructed to clear clogged stormwater drains and ensure pumping stations are operational.

Relief Supplies   Stocks of food grains, drinking water, blankets, and medicines are being pre-positioned at district warehouses.

Medical Response  Public health centers and district hospitals have been asked to keep emergency wards ready and ensure sufficient stocks of essential medicines and blood.

Power Backup  The Electricity Department is preparing for quick restoration of power supply in case of outages caused by storms or flooding.

Community Engagement & Public Awareness

The CM also emphasized that disaster preparedness is not just an administrative task but a community responsibility. Local bodies are being encouraged to conduct public awareness campaigns, urging citizens to stay alert to official advisories, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains, and keep emergency contact numbers handy.

Special attention is being given to vulnerable populations—senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and those living in flood-prone areas. Self-help groups, resident welfare associations, and youth volunteers will be roped in to assist in relocation, food distribution, and information dissemination if required.

Technology and Real-Time Monitoring

Leveraging technology is a cornerstone of the CM’s plan. Officials will use drones for aerial surveys in flood-hit areas, GPS tracking for relief vehicles, and mobile apps for lodging distress complaints. The state’s Command Control Centre in Hyderabad will serve as the central monitoring hub, providing direct oversight to the CM’s office.

A Call for Vigilance

Revanth Reddy concluded the meeting with a firm message: “We are on the threshold of challenging days. The safety of our people is paramount. No matter the scale of the challenge, our preparedness will decide the outcome.”

With the administration now on round-the-clock high alert, the government aims to respond to any eventuality within minutes, not hours. While the hope remains that severe conditions may be avoided, the state machinery is now operating under a zero-delay, zero-excuse policy—ready to protect lives and livelihoods across Telangana.
