BOGATHA FALLS FLOODS: TORRENTIAL RAINS TRIGGER DANGEROUS SWELL

Torrential rains in the upper catchment areas have led to severe flooding at Bogatha Falls in the Mulugu district. Known as the “Niagara of Telangana,” the scenic beauty has turned treacherous due to the sheer volume and force of the water now cascading over the cliffs. Authorities have sounded an alert and prohibited all entry into the area for public safety.

The intensity of the downpour in the surrounding regions has caused many small and large streams in the district to swell beyond their normal levels. These overflowing streams have merged into the Bogatha river system, contributing to the massive inflow and dangerously high water levels at the falls. The once serene location has now become a roaring torrent of floodwater.

Local officials have issued multiple warnings advising people not to approach the falls under any circumstances. Signboards, barricades, and emergency alerts have been put in place, but some curious onlookers have still been attempting to get close. Police and forest department teams are patrolling the area to ensure safety and compliance with the restrictions.

In nearby villages, several low-lying agricultural fields have been submerged due to the overflowing streams. Residents are worried about potential crop loss and damage to property. Many have taken precautionary measures to move livestock and essential belongings to safer ground. The district administration has kept rescue teams and emergency services on high alert.

Bogatha Falls, a major tourist attraction during monsoon, usually draws large crowds to witness its majestic flow. But this year, the overwhelming volume of water has made it a deadly sight. Environmentalists and local guides are urging people to respect nature’s power and avoid risky behavior during extreme weather.

Meteorological departments have predicted continued rainfall over the next two days, especially in the hilly and forested areas of Mulugu. This could worsen the flooding situation, prompting further restrictions on movement in the vicinity of the falls and other vulnerable spots in the district.

Social media is buzzing with dramatic videos and images of the swollen Bogatha Falls, capturing the attention of the public across Telangana and beyond. While some express awe at the natural spectacle, others are concerned about the damage it may cause if rains persist.

Authorities have reassured the public that continuous monitoring is underway, and any emergency situation will be addressed promptly. Residents and tourists are urged to cooperate with officials, avoid flood-affected zones, and stay updated with official weather bulletins to ensure safety.
