APSRTC Student Bus Pass Scheme
The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has been implementing a student-friendly initiative by offering free bus passes to school children. Girls studying up to Class 10 and boys up to Class 6 are eligible for these free passes. This scheme aims to encourage school attendance, reduce dropout rates, and ease the financial burden on families, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
Concessional Bus Passes for Higher Classes
Once students move beyond the free eligibility classes, APSRTC offers bus passes at a concessional rate. This is applicable to boys studying from Class 7 onwards and girls from Class 11 onwards. The fee is fixed and considerably lower than regular bus fare. Students commuting daily from their homes to schools or colleges within a specific range can avail this benefit, making higher education more accessible and affordable.
How to Apply for a Bus Pass
To obtain a bus pass, students or their parents must visit the nearest APSRTC bus depot or apply online through the official APSRTC portal. Required documents include a bonafide certificate from the educational institution, a recent passport-size photograph, and proof of residence. For online applications, scanned copies of these documents must be uploaded along with form submission. Once verified, the pass will be issued or delivered to the applicant.
Digital Services and Renewal Process
APSRTC has also introduced digital services to streamline the process. The student bus pass can now be renewed online at the start of each academic year, reducing the hassle of standing in long queues. With the government’s commitment to improving public transport for students, the APSRTC student bus pass scheme remains a crucial step towards promoting inclusive and uninterrupted education in Andhra Pradesh.
