Apple Intelligence and WWDC25 highlights

At WWDC 2025, Apple officially introduced its highly anticipated Apple Intelligence  a suite of on-device generative AI features integrated across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Apple Intelligence uses foundation models running locally and in the cloud to provide smarter assistance across apps. It powers functions such as smart summarization in Mail and Notes, context-aware replies in Messages, and semantic search across files and photos. Apple emphasized privacy by default, with most processing happening on-device or in Apple’s secure Private Cloud Compute.

Another major reveal was the complete redesign of the operating system UI, dubbed Liquid Glass. This new aesthetic delivers a translucent, layered look across iOS 26, iPadOS 18, and macOS Tahoe. Along with design changes, Apple also previewed enhanced multitasking features, AI-assisted workout coaching, and real-time language translation in FaceTime. New customization options, adaptive widgets, and proactive AI suggestions signal Apple’s move to catch up with rivals like Google and Microsoft in the AI race while keeping the signature Apple user experience intact.

However, some analysts called the announcement more evolutionary than revolutionary. The next-gen Siri update, which was widely expected to be a highlight, has been delayed to a later release. Critics note that while Apple’s approach to AI is more privacy-focused and tightly integrated, it lacks the raw power and ambition of OpenAI’s or Google’s latest models. Still, for Apple users, these updates represent the beginning of a new era where AI is embedded subtly and securely across every device and app.
