Wine shops closed for two days

In light of the upcoming Bonala festival celebrations in Secunderabad, Ujjain Mahankali, and other key areas of Hyderabad, the city police have imposed a two-day liquor ban. City Police Commissioner CV Anand has issued strict orders to close all liquor shops from 6 a.m. on July 13 to 6 a.m. on July 15. This move comes as part of efforts to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the large-scale religious festivities, which are expected to attract lakhs of devotees.

The Bonala festival, known for its vibrant processions and spiritual fervor, draws massive crowds to the temples, especially in the twin cities. With the footfall of devotees expected to be in the lakhs, the Hyderabad police are taking no chances. The decision to shut liquor shops is aimed at preventing untoward incidents that may arise due to alcohol consumption and to allow the festival to proceed peacefully and respectfully.

Apart from the liquor ban, police have ramped up security arrangements across key festival locations. Thousands of personnel will be deployed to manage the crowds, regulate traffic, and respond to emergencies. Surveillance systems, including CCTV monitoring and drone patrolling, are also being put in place. The administration has urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and celebrate the Bonala festival in a safe and orderly manner.
