Another Aviation Scare: Air India Flight in Trouble After Takeoff from Delhi

A day after the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, aviation safety concerns resurfaced when an Air India flight from Delhi to Vienna narrowly avoided a major mishap. The incident occurred on June 14, when a Boeing 777 aircraft departed from Indira Gandhi International Airport, heading towards the Austrian capital. Midway through the flight, the aircraft experienced a technical fault that led to a sudden and unexpected altitude drop.

According to sources, the aircraft descended nearly 900 feet due to the technical glitch, causing a moment of panic among the crew and passengers. The descent raised alarms in the cockpit, prompting immediate action by the pilots to stabilize the aircraft. Fortunately, the experienced flight crew managed to regain control and correct the altitude deviation without any injury to passengers or further complications.

Despite the mid-air scare, the flight continued on its course to Vienna. The aircraft maintained stability for the remainder of the journey and safely landed at its destination after a total flying time of 9 hours and 8 minutes. Air India officials have confirmed that no passengers were harmed and that standard procedures were followed during the emergency situation.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has reportedly taken note of the incident and is expected to launch an inquiry into the technical fault. This close call comes amid heightened scrutiny of airline safety measures following the Ahmedabad crash, underscoring the importance of rigorous maintenance and timely inspections of aircraft.
