Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, in collaboration with Union Culture and Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy Shekhawat, laid the foundation stone for the prestigious Akhanda Godavari Tourism Project at Rajahmundry. The project marks a significant step in boosting the cultural and tourism infrastructure of the region. The foundation ceremony drew a large crowd, including ministers, MLAs, MPs, and other public representatives. This initiative reflects a strong synergy between the state and central governments in promoting heritage-based tourism.
The leaders also reviewed a detailed photo gallery showcasing various projects to be taken up across Andhra Pradesh with the financial support of ₹375 crores from the central government under the Tourism Department. These projects aim to enhance tourist amenities, preserve cultural heritage, and improve infrastructure at key tourist locations. Later, the dignitaries inspected the area from the Godavari River Front View Point, where the main development of the Akhanda Godavari Project is expected to begin, highlighting the potential for transforming the riverbank into a major tourist attraction.
During his address, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan emphasized the historical and cultural significance of Rajahmundry, stating that the Godavari River is the soul of the region. He expressed pride in the city’s legacy, noting that civilization and language have flourished along its banks. He also paid tribute to Dokka Seethamma, a revered social reformer and humanitarian, calling her the “Annapurna of Andhra Pradesh” for her lifelong service to feeding the needy. The project, he said, will not only enhance tourism but also celebrate the spiritual and cultural depth of the region.
