India’s New Expressway to Feature Asia’s Longest Wildlife Corridor
he much-anticipated Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is set to open by July 2025, dramatically transforming travel between the two cities. Spanning 210 kilometers and built at a cost of ₹12,000 crore, the expressway will slash travel time from approximately 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. This state-of-the-art infrastructure project is expected to boost tourism, improve regional connectivity, and facilitate faster movement of goods and people across the northern states.
One of the expressway’s most notable features is Asia’s longest elevated wildlife corridor, stretching over 12 kilometers through the ecologically sensitive Rajaji National Park. Designed to minimize environmental disruption and ensure safe passage for animals, the corridor reflects a blend of modern engineering and sustainable development. With its advanced safety features and eco-friendly design, the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway stands as a model for future infrastructure projects in India.
