The Telangana government has officially implemented the 112 emergency helpline number, integrating all major emergency services under a single platform. This unified emergency response system replaces the older multiple helpline numbers like 100 (police), 101 (fire), and 102 (ambulance), streamlining public access during critical situations. Citizens can now contact police, fire, and medical services through this one number, which aims to offer a faster, coordinated, and more efficient response.
The new 112 system is supported by a centralized command and control center operating 24/7. The helpline also features a GPS-enabled response mechanism, allowing emergency responders to locate distressed callers quickly. Telangana joins other states in adopting this pan-India initiative launched by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS). This move is expected to significantly improve public safety and emergency management across urban and rural areas of the state
